2004 heralded an important event in the business history of Saudi Nation. A law was sanctioned which stated that women could start business ventures without male guardians. Previously ( even today) its not fairly easy for women to go out and work. The degree of freedom in public, particularly business, circles is very limited. But times are changing Arab world is now acknowledging the role of women in trade and commerce.

Further strengthening the stand of female population in business the monarchy has been taking some slow but solid steps in this direction. Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz Fund has been set up to help aspiring young women to start their own ventures. Many ladies have started benefiting form such opportunities. But their numbers are quite few. There is no mass movement in this direction and a revolution is far form happening.

The ministerial ruling that allows women to own companies also add that the company must employ and cater totally to women. Mindset of employees in government offices is also negative towards this trend. They tend to overlook or delay women lead startups and create difficulties. Such people are of opinion that they are protecting the society from the evils of a woman running and managing her own business. It will take time and effort for such absurd mentalities to erode away. We believe the glorious days for women entrepreneurs in Arab world will come in near future.
